Welcome to the Odd-Ball Community
Spooky Doings Social Club is a gathering place for adults who enjoy the strange corners of art, history, folklore, paranormal culture, creativity, and community.
We meet at least once a month, usually somewhere in Lowell, to explore a different idea, activity, artist, organization, or wonderfully peculiar subject.
Some nights might involve making something. Others might involve listening to someone talk about ghosts, unusual history, horror, art, folklore, spiritualism, strange collections, or local legends. Sometimes we may simply gather somewhere interesting and see what happens.
You Never Really Know What You’re Walking Into
Dark art. Strange history. Paranormal stories. Weird crafts. Local makers. Demonstrations. Open mics. Oddities. Talks. Markets. Field trips. Community projects. There is no single definition of a Spooky Doing.
If it creates curiosity, encourages people to meet one another, and sits somewhere on the strange side of life, we’re interested.
The Rules of the Séance
Be welcoming, respectful, and have fun.
Treat fellow attendees, speakers, vendors, organizers, and venues with respect.
Harassment, hate speech, threatening behavior, and unwanted sexual attention will not be tolerated.
Deliberate disruption or behavior that makes others feel unsafe is not welcome.
Respect boundaries.
Respect the weirdos around you.
Spooky Doings events are 18+ unless otherwise stated.
Want to Be Part of a Doing?
Are you an artist, maker, historian, performer, paranormal enthusiast, organization, business, speaker, educator, collector, or professional oddball? We’re always interested in discovering people doing interesting things in and around Lowell.
Apply to be considered for a vendor spotlight, talk, demonstration, event feature, collaboration, or future gathering.
How the Haunting Began
Spooky Doings Lowell was created to bring together people who are interested in the unusual and to give Lowell’s growing community of artists, makers, organizers, historians, spiritualists, and curious residents another reason to gather.
Rather than treating spooky culture as something that only comes alive in October, we want to explore it year-round.
The strange, macabre, mysterious, uncanny, historic, artistic, and unexplained are part of New England culture every month of the year.
Our Mission
Spooky Doings exists to build community around the strange and unusual while supporting the people, organizations, venues, artists, and small businesses that make Lowell worth exploring.
Through gatherings, creative programming, collaborations, promotion, and shared resources, we hope to expand Lowell’s dark horizons and help establish the city as another destination for people seeking the unusual side of New England.
Why Lowell?
Given Lowell’s rich history, historic architecture, creative community, industrial past, and proximity to Salem, we believe the city is uniquely positioned to grow into a destination for unusual cultural experiences. But we aren’t interested in recreating Salem.
We want Lowell to become something distinctly its own. A place where strange history, contemporary art, community, independent events, makers, folklore, and curiosity can overlap.
